Makris Gialos

Makrygialos is a well-known tourist resort with a nice sandy beach, protected from the winds. It is situated at a distance of 58 kilometers far from Aghios Nicolaos at the Southeast, 23 kilometers eastern to Ierapetra and 3 kilometers western to the tourist resort of Analipsi. It has some 600 permanent residents. The place combines the very nice sea for swimming with the wonderful natural environment and the possibility of excursions around and sightseeing. The village offers several good hotels of all categories, as well as studios and rooms to let. Food is excellent, fresh fish and seafood is abundant and gorgeous in the fish taverns of the resort.You will enjoy swimming and sea sports at the well-organised beach in front of the settlement, with all facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sunbeds, umbrellas etc). Access from Aghios Nicolaos is possible by rented or private cars and motorbikes, but also by taxi from the nearby Ierapetra.
